Sundays Styled Whimsical Wedding

Everybody has that couple in their group of friends that is notorious for being the "perfect" couple. Ever since my very first date with George, in that first conversation and many conversations after, Louie and Marissa have been labeled as the perfect match. "They go great together." It's true, they do... and with their 5 year anniversary coming up this summer, I was more than thrilled and humbled by their willingness to model for me this past Sunday for my Styled Whimsical Wedding photo shoot. A beautiful couple, and a pleasure to work with!

Not only were the models great, but I had the pleasure of working with a florist, hairstylist, and makeup artist that didn't disappoint one bit!  In fact, I was blown away.

On Sunday morning when Loreta Daka of Daka Floral Boutique came by my house to drop off all the floral pieces, my jaw dropped as I watched her and her fiance carry two big boxes up to my front door. Then, when she opened the boxes to reveal what was inside, I nearly lost my breath. I know, it sounds over-exaggerated and cheesy, but I truly did not expect to see what I saw. I was so excited that I called up my mother to brag about the flowers before Loreta was even out the door. It was like Pinterest exploded in my dining room! There was an amazing array of flowers I had never seen before, but I was most taken by Loreta's favorite, the David Austin's Rose. It's a flower Loreta really believes in and I don't blame her... it's quite timeless. Beautiful, muted, antiqued colors and soft shades of sage green, the arrangements were everything I dreamed of; whimsical and delicate, with touches of white birch and burlap, an amazingly sweet floral aroma followed me throughout the entire day. Ugh, it was perfection.

Guslene Bubak of New York City drove up and transformed Marissa's hair. When she first arrived we were chatting and she said to me "I don't do messy hair." At first I didn't really know what she meant by that... why would I hire a hairstylist to come and make my model look messy? But then, when the finished product was revealed, I realized what she meant. Marissa's hairstyle was a beautiful cornucopia of natural looking loose locks. This is a style I have tried one too many times to pull off myself, and each time, within a hour, my originally neat and notice-worthy curls turned into a frizzy, disorganized, "you spent HOW long on that mess?" disaster. Guslenes version, however, didn't have that same downward spiral I was so used to. That style stayed pretty for the entire photo shoot, and then, hours later when Marissa and Louie came by George and I's house for dinner, it still looked gorgeous. So, it's true, Guslene does not do messy hair.

Lorna Pulver drove down from Stonington, Connecticut to help me out on Sunday and painted up Marissa's face like an artist. She may be new on the scene, but she must've been a makeup guru in a past life because she worked, and produced, like she's been doing professional makeup for a hundred years. Upon meeting Lorna I was blown away by her awesomely adorable outfit... which made my outfit look a little like something you would salvage from that giant black trash bag your 90 year old grandmother has been meaning to take to Goodwill for the past 15 years. She had these great jeans with a filigree pattern and she matched it with this great, bright, sweater in a killer shade of yellow. My point being, she looked fabulous and, in my opinion, if you look fabulous you have more than enough ability to make others look fabulous. Lorna took a look at my inspiration images and produced the exact look I was hoping for. Natural, rosey, and flawless, I wish I could keep Lorna in my closet to beautify me every morning (God knows I couldn't do it myself).

If you happen to be as impressed with their work as I was, you can contact Loreta by emailing her at loretadaka@yahoo.com, Guslene through her website http://guslenebubak.4ormat.com/, and you can get in touch with Lorna by emailing her at lornapulver@gmail.com.

Feelin' good.

xoxo
